The APG Centennial Celebration Association (ACCA) and city of Aberdeen are constructing a monument to APG civilian, military, and contract workers who died in the conduct of their missions from 1917 – 2017. This monument will be constructed at Festival Park in Aberdeen in a serene, public setting in Aberdeen, Maryland. Below is an artist’s rendition of the memorial. The memorial will be etched with the following words:
THIS MONUMENT STANDS AS A TRIBUTE TO THE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE CIVILIANS, MILITARY SERVICE MEMBERS, AND SUPPORT CONTRACTORS OF ABERDEEN PROVING GROUND AND THE FORMER EDGEWOOD ARSENAL WHO LOST THEIR LIVES DURING THE CONDUCT OF THEIR MISSIONS.
WE HONOR THEIR LIVES AND THEIR CONTRIBUTIONS TO OUR NATIONAL DEFENSE. EACH GAVE THE LAST FULL MEASURE OF DEVOTION WHILE PERFORMING THEIR DUTIES. OUR COMMUNITY IS FOREVER GRATEFUL. MAY THESE FAMILY MEMBERS, FRIENDS AND COLLEAGUES FOREVER REST IN PEACE.
DEDICATED THIS 31st DAY IN MAY 2017
